The temps on the South Plains have been extremely high the last few days, reaching near 100 Saturday and Sunday. Because we are experiencing drought conditions, the fire danger is high, with a huge grassfire reported burning nearly 35,000 acres near Dickens. The highs are supposed to be a bit cooler later in the week but until they are, if you're outside in the heat be sure to wear sunscreen and a protective hat.
And, try cooling off by jumping in the swimming pool or get a refreshing drink at the ol' water fountain. It's very important to drink plenty of fluids and of course make sure your pets have water. Sometimes it can be a battle for water between man and beast....well, actually toddler and pet. Check this video out .....and be cool!
