Two For Tuesday

It was on this day, March 13, 1999 that Trisha Yearwood became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In fact it happened at the original home of the Opry, the Ryman Auditorium and Ricky Scaggs did the honors.

When you asked any of the current stars of country music who was a main influence in their career. the name that comes up almost every time is George Jones. He is certainly in my Top 5 country singers of all time.

On this day in 1998, an unknown singer and one, although an established star in country music, was at a lull in his career, got together and recorded a song that went to the top of the charts. The pairing of Anita Cochran and Steve Wariner surprised some folks. What also surprised some was that their song went to Number One.

It must be really bad when she calls him a cheater, not once but twice. Why not, it's a "two for Tuesday". Today we feature a husband and wife team, Mr. and Mrs. Feek.

Both of these singers were big in country music in the 80's. In fact, one actually got her career started in the 70's as a teenager. They are Tanya Tucker and T.Graham Brown.

On this "two for Tuesday" one singer is a country superstar and the other is the mom of one of the members of the hottest group in country music.

On "two for Tuesday's" not only do I try to feature well known duos or duets, but also artists from different music genres that get together to make music. On this "two for Tuesday" is a Texas legend and another Texan by way of Brooklyn. Willie Nelson and Norah Jones.

Lee Ann Womack song " I hope You Dance" was nominated for a Grammy for song of the year on this day in 2001. She was born in Jacksonville, Texas and later studied music at South Plain Junior College in Levelland.

On today's "two for Tuesday" is a singer who was constantly on the country music charts in the 80's. But folks who weren't that familiar with his country songs, knew Hank Williams Jr. as the guy who sang the theme for Monday Night Football.
